Cadillac CTS-V Sport Wagon 2011

Cadillac has been a leading luxury auto brand since 1902. In recent years, Cadillac has engineered an historic renaissance led by artful engineering and global expansion. Like the sedan and coupe models, the CTS-V sports Wagon is powered by the same 6.2 liter supercharged V8 engine that delivers a total of 556 hp and 551 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine can be coupled to either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic.

The exterior is finished in Midnight Silver, first seen on the Cadillac Sixteen Concept, and accented by lustrous Liquid Silver-finished wheels and a black chrome finish on the grille’s mesh insert. The rear fascia, upper spoiler and center high-mounted stop lamp are also unique to the show car. Its unique bodystyle is all we can say about what distinguishes the wagon from either of the other two high performance variants. It will ride on 19-inch aluminum wheels, pack magnetic ride control, Brembo brakes and has an optional panoramic sunroof. OK, so there’s something it has that the other two don’t.

Inside, the CTS-V Sport Wagon show car is trimmed in exclusive black leather with Alcantara accents. The upper section of the instrument panel and upper door panels are covered in the same premium leather, accented with midnight Sapele wood, while the microfiber material and stitching is applied to the lower door panels, pillars, console lid, headliner and steering wheel center. The show car features fine-grain black leather- trimmed Recaro seats with Alcantara seat inserts. The seat inserts are divided in the center and accented with dark gray stitching, while the V-series logo is laser etched into the seatbacks. Obsidian Black accents grace the center stack, console, steering wheel and door panels.

The interior of the CTS-V Sport Wagon is shared with the sedan, including streamlined instrumentation, LED lighting and hand-cut-and-sewn accents.

The brakes and tyres are taken care of by two big names in their respective fields – Brembo and Michelin – with six-piston callipers in the front and four-piston callipers in the rear housed behind Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 rubber specifically engineered for the CTS-V.

The rest of the exterior carries the dramatic design of the new CTS Sport Wagon; the details of which include:

  • Signature V-shaped deck and tailgate motif
  • Large, vertical taillamps with light-pipe technology
  • Power-opening liftgate (via key fob or in-vehicle button)
  • CHMSL-integrated roof spoiler
  • Integrated roof load management system with available cross bars for a seamless appearance
  • Cargo management system with adjustable in-floor containment
  • Available panoramic UltraView sunroof.

This is the Scuderia Spider 16M. It is Ferrari’s latest and greatest version of their F430, a track-ready convertible which was created to celebrate the 16 titles they won this year as a manufacturer. Why you would ever need a convertible track car is beyond me, but sure, why not?

The Scuderia version of the F430 Spider is 80 kilos lighter and packing 27 extra ponies to give you a little extra kick in pants. Combine that 510HP 4.3-liter V8 engine and sub-3,000 lb curb weight with improved aerodynamics and you get blistering fast acceleration; 0-62 in 3.7 seconds with a top speed of 196 miles per hour.

Best Audi Q5 wins OFF ROAD AWARD for 2010

INGOLSTADT/MUNICH, Germany, Feb 3, 2010 - Audi SUVs are collecting top honors: readers of OFF ROAD magazine have selected the Audi Q5 as the off-road vehicle of the year in the SUV category. The Audi Q7 took third place in the luxury SUV category. The awards were presented last night in Munich.

In the survey of readers, the Audi Q5 took first place in the SUV category. Hans-Joachim Radde, Head of Marketing Germany at AUDI AG, accepted the prize and remarked: “The Audi Q5 combines dynamics and sportiness with a highly variable interior. It’s an all-round talent for recreation and family. And in the long run, that’s what customers in this segment want.”

The Audi Q7 also found favor among the magazine’s readers, taking third place in the luxury SUV category. “Sports, recreation and business – that’s what the Audi Q7 stands for. And with the 3.0 TDI clean diesel, it already meets the strict Euro 6 limits that will come into effect in 2014,” Radde said.

Almost 25,000 OFF ROAD readers cast their votes this year, selecting from 97 models in eight categories. The automotive trade journal has held its reader survey since 1982.

Best Greatest Cars of All Time

Ford GT40Famously, this was the car that Ford developed to kick Ferrari's butt after the Italian maker decided against selling out to the Blue Oval. A one-two-three finish at Le Mans made the point rather neatly, and this remains the most inspired car that Ford has ever produced. And even though it's a loud Yank, you voted for it. Well done!
Picture 2
Mustangs, Thunderbirds and F-series pickups are all legendary Fords that have populated America's highways for decades. Numbering in the millions, they're recognizable to just about everyone. For motorsports fans or those familiar with Ford's racing heritage, however, there's a lesser known but equally iconic "halo" model that best represents the technological capabilities of the marque: the exotic limited-production Ford GT sports car.

Arriving in prototype form just in time for Ford's Centennial celebration in 2003, the Ford GT debuted for 2004 as the modern, road-going interpretation of the GT40 endurance racing car that beat Ferrari and swept the 24 Hours of Le Mans race four years in a row from 1966-'69. The ultrahigh-performance two-seat Ford GT was produced from 2004 through 2006 and showcased many advanced technologies, befitting its $140,000 price tag. It sported a supercharged mid-mounted V8 engine, an aluminum chassis, superplastic-formed aluminum body panels, a capless fuel filler, cross-drilled Brembo brakes and a carbon-fiber engine cover. Not only did these exotic features showcase a technological tour de force, they also formed a visual feast once the large rear engine cover was opened.

Picture car 3
After climbing inside -- a process made awkward by the GT's pronounced door frames that extend well into the roof -- the driver and lucky passenger enjoy surprisingly roomy accommodations for even 6-plus-footers. The cockpit offers a satisfying blend of old and new -- the wide gauge cluster with center-mounted tach, the red starter button, a metal shift knob, large toggle switches and carbon-fiber seats remind you of its more primitive heritage, while the magnesium center console and illuminated climate controls lend a modern and civilized touch. As you might expect, rear visibility is a weak point, but it's a trade-off we have no problem accepting.
Picture car 4Once underway, however, whatever ergonomic shortcomings the GT may have disappear as quickly as the road in its rearview mirror. Surprisingly, its drivability and user-friendliness is closer to that of a typical sport coupe than a high-performance sports car. The clutch pedal and shifter operate smoothly, the well-balanced steering provides excellent feedback and the engine remains civilized when idling through traffic. But the Ford GT really comes into its own when driven with gusto on the road or at the track, with blistering 3.5-second 0-60-mph performance and a reassuring combination of stability and confidence in place of the typical nervousness exhibited by some other exotics. As we said in our review, "think of it as a Viper-powered NSX with the daily drivability of a Corvette." In other words, the Ford GT is one of the most capable cars ever produced, with at-the-limit manners that not only give it an advantage over direct rivals, but also the ability to compete with supercars costing much more.
